Homework Support

We offer homework support after school with structured lessons and lunch.

Homework support takes place in the Casa Intiwawa in San Isidro from Monday to Thursday between 3 pm to 5 pm. The local teacher works with a team of Intiwawa volunteers to run the classes. The aim of this project is to offer a safe environment for the kids to study and play each afternoon after school is over. Because many of the children have difficulties in school, and given that their parents have little time to support their studies, it is essential that Intiwawa lends a hand to aide and support their learning process.

Each volunteer is responsible for one table of children. The kids bring their own school supplies and their homework instructions are written down in their exercise books. Some of the children suffer from learning difficulties and require intensive supervision, whereas others can work relatively independently.

After finishing their studies the kids can accomplish "pr├ícticas", fun exercises that support English, Maths and Communication skills. In addition, the children can choose to read  a book from our collection, play on the yard, or perhaps draw pictures. Finally, we give the children healthy snacks and ask them to brush their teeth before they go home.
